Northern White Hardrock Maple
Rustic
Rustic Maple is a hard and durable wood. Characteristics of Rustic Maple include
color variations from white sapwood to grayish brown heartwood, knot holes, pin
holes, “birds’ eye”, and mineral streaks.
Rustic Maple is different from Knotty Maple, it has prominent color
variations of brown and black throughout. The characteristics are natural
and so the size and shape cannot be specified.

Clear Maple is a hard and enduring wood. Characteristics of Clear Maple include
color variations from white sapwood to grayish brown heartwood, tight knots,
“birds’ eye”, and mineral streaks. A small percentage of these characteristic
will be allowed in this grade.
